Scott Cossu, a Windom Hill original pianist and Ann Lindquist, flutist, commanded the stage Sunday evening Sept. 22 . for Seldovia Arts Councils only Fall season concert. The duos performance consisting of original pieces by Scott Cossu, can be described as eclectic, spirit- filled, JOY. Scotts compositions and arrangements combine elements of jazz, classical , world-beat and boogie- woogie beat piano and have names such as: Fawn Islands, Old Man Mambo, Cajun Kitchen Blues, Sanctuary, Gwenlaise and Deja Blues. When questioned as to whether this music could be classed aso New Age or Smooth Jazz, Scott laughingly renamed it, Heavy Mental. The music, however, was anything but heavy. Ann Linquist who is featured on Scotts new CD, Emerald Pathway, spiced it up with flute solos and dazzled us with her mastery of the unusual base flute. Both extremely talented artists now hail from Washington State where Ann has played electric flute, jazz, classical, folk, Middle Eastern, medieval, renaissance and baroque styles of music for the last twenty years. The wonderfully matched pair are delightful to watch as their eyes sparkle the musical communication of soul-filled improvisations and their hearts become one with the audience. The show aptly celebrated the release of CD, When Spirits Fly. Warm, hospitable and approachable, these two musicians were an absolute treat to get to know AND to listen to. This was an outstanding evening!!!!!! Special thanks to
the Seldovia Arts Council for presenting this event and to the Seldovia
Bible Chapel for the use of their beautiful edifice and piano, Thanks
also to the Seldovia Rowing Club and to Lynn Corwin for artist accommodations
and meals.
