Cathy has lived in Homer, Alaska since 1973. She was born and raised in Oregon and lived briefly in Georgia and New York.
Cathy has a rich background that ties right in with the philosophy and approach of HANDLE. Her degree is in education with an emphasis on special education. She organized, supervised and taught a preschool for six years with an enrollment of 120 children, with programs for children and families ages zero to 5 years. She was a Registered EMT III and Alaska State Certified Firefighter for ten years. She taught CPR, First Aid, Emergency Trauma Technicians and Emergency Medical Technicians. For eleven years, Cathy worked in the field of mental health with persons of all ages with developmental delays, emotional disturbance and mental illness. She is a musician who has fiddled in living rooms, concerts and on albums.
Judith Bluestone and Catherine Stingley are the exclusive
Certified HANDLE Trainers, traveling worldwide for conference presentations
and to support the HANDLE educational mission. Cathy has taught, made presentations
and seen clients in the states of Alaska, Connecticut, Washington, Oregon,
Iowa, Illinois and Texas as well as in Ireland and England.
