Allen Engineers, formed in 1990 by James Allen, P.E., utilizes a project manager/design team concept in which Mr. Allen acts as the primary design manager to the client. A project manager assigned to each project selects the project team members. The project manager is responsible to the client and the firm for the successful execution of each project. He has complete authority and responsibility for the project throughout the duration of the contract. The project manager will assign design responsibility to each team member to accomplish the required tasks.
Quality is controlled by selection of experienced and qualified team members, careful monitoring of the progress of the design, and careful review of all design activities. Mr. Allens extensive experience in Alaska ensures that a high level of expertise is applied to each project. |

1974 Mr. Allen opened his own consulting engineering firm, James Allen, P.E., in Anchorage, Alaska. The firm specialized in structural engineering with special emphasis on arctic structures, seismic design, and bulk fuel storage facilities. |

1990 The company's name was changed to Allen Engineers. The firm specializes in the design of engineering projects, including buildings, bridges, docks, bulk fuel storage facilities, and seismic analysis and design. |

1997 In May 1997 the offices were relocated to Homer, Alaska. |

Mr. Allen has been very involved in engineering professional societies and has served as state and local officer in the Alaska Society of Professional Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Structural Engineers Association of Alaska. Mr. Allen has sat as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. |
