Presently, we have a volunteer sample water quality monitoring team that has been tutored by the Cook Inlet Keeper. We are testing water quality samples from several sites along the Anchor River. This baseline data will serve to demonstrate the present health of the river, as well as provide evidence of any changes that occur.
At the present time we are in the process of developing a mission statement, lists of interested individuals who would like to become a 'Local Hero' by being involved, identifying sources of funding (a necessary ingredient to successfully establishing an effective organization and obtaining the information we will need to be effective and relevant) and training.
