In 1999 Sea Bear Charters was the first to offer brown bear viewing by boat out of Homer. The excursion was so well received by those making the trip that we are going to continue offering it.TUXEDNI BAYLocated on the west side of Cook Inlet nestled between Mt. Illiamna and Mt. RedoubtTuxedni Bay is home to a small number of people, who during the summer fishing season, are working set net sites. There are also seals, ducks and other wildlife. Most importantly, it's home to a large population of coastal brown bears during the months of June and July. The bears, which includes several sows with cubs, can be found in groups feeding on an abundance of beach grasses and digging for clams in the tidal areas throughout the bay.
A full day excursion departs (departure time is tide dependent) from the Homer Small Boat Harbor aboard the 36 ft. Chris Craft F/V Briska for the trip across Cook Inlet to Tuxedni Bay. Once in Tuxedni Bay the F/V Briska will anchor up and you will board a skiff to continue further into the bay to view brown bear.
