What
were you doing when the lights went out Monday night? Hopefully,
you were sitting the audience savoring the last beautiful notes
to be heard at one of the finest classical music performances yet
presented in Seldovia!! Anchorage Studio Opera AND Riverrun Chamber
players graced the stage at Susan B. English School in a three part
evening spectacular!!
Part One
of the magical evening began with a performance by Riverrun Chamber
Players of Devorak's String Quartet #12 in F Major, Opus 96, "the
American", ma non troppo.. which was then followed by Lento,
Molt Vivace, and Vivace ma non troppo to complete the set. Moving
from intricate piece of music to the next, the music written by
Czechoslovakian music master composer, Devorak showcased the incredible
musical virtuosity of Riverrun Chamber "string" Players,
Joanna Jenner on first violin, Ling Ping How on violin, Jenny Douglas
Viola, and Lisa Lancaster on cello. Commentary on the composers
and explanations of the musical terms given by director, Joanna
Jenner provided additional insight into the music and was particulary
helpful to the young Susan B. English audience, their parents and
community members. The group traveled to the Katchemak Bay from
New York State, where they all hold positions in various prestigious
orchestras and specifically get together in the summer to create
the Riverrun Music Festival. >>>> Go
